NVIDIA graphics card owners are not "going crazy" - developers announced a fix for the flickering bug

Some users have been experiencing this issue for months.

NVIDIA recently announced the release of hotfix 616.86 for the GeForce driver. It is designed to fix several bugs, one of which has been bothering some owners of the company's graphics cards for a long time.

The developers reported that they fixed an issue where virtual displays could not be created after updating to driver 616.56. In addition, they eliminated a bug that could cause a black screen to appear in Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions after installing driver 616.56.

The developers also stated that they fixed a bug that caused periodic flickering in browsers when navigating to certain websites.

According to comments, some PC users with NVIDIA graphics cards have been suffering from the flickering bug for "months." Gamers even suggested that the problem was not software-related, but might be due to their graphics card "dying."

AyoJake admitted that he thought he was going crazy: "I recently got a 2080 Ti sent to me to replace my 1080 Ti and I thought it was 'dying'. I felt like I was going crazy because it [the flickering] would happen completely unpredictably."

However, reports of flickering still occur. Sometimes, rolling back to older drivers, like 610, helps such gamers.
