Onimusha: Way of the Sword Sells a Million Copies in One Day

Onimusha: Way of the Sword sold over a million copies on its first day, and total sales of the Onimusha series have exceeded 10 million units.

Capcom announced an excellent start for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first new installment in the cult samurai series in over 20 years. The game surpassed the one million copies sold mark on its very first day after release.

This success marked an important milestone for the franchise: thanks to the new installment, the total sales of all Onimusha games worldwide exceeded 10 million copies.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set in Edo-era Kyoto. The main character is the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Capcom combined classic sword fighting with modern graphics, emphasizing spectacular battles, story, and the landscapes of feudal Japan.
