Xbox to introduce cloud gaming limit not in all countries

Current subscribers in the US, Canada, and the UK will not be affected by the changes.

Microsoft has started sending emails to some Xbox Game Pass subscribers clarifying the terms of new cloud gaming restrictions. However, according to user reports, the rules depend on the country where the subscription was purchased.

Xbox has begun notifying individual users that the new restrictions will not apply to their existing subscriptions as long as they continue to use automatic renewal.

In the email, the company explains that the changes at this stage will only affect new purchases and will not impact the current subscription in the respective region, provided automatic renewal is maintained.

However, after canceling a subscription and then re-subscribing, the user will receive the standard monthly cloud gaming limit depending on the chosen plan. Xbox also promises to notify users at least 60 days in advance if the terms of their existing subscription change in the future.

Such notifications, according to player reports, are not received by all subscribers. Reddit users confirmed receiving emails in Australia, Brazil, Poland, and Germany, while subscribers from the US, Canada, and the UK reported not receiving such notifications.

The differences are likely due to the legislation of individual countries. Some regions have rules that limit the ability to change the terms of existing subscriptions without a long notification period or customer consent.
