Development of a Killzone remake or remaster has begun - insider

It is assumed that Guerilla will be assisted by the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm.

Recently, players once again remembered the Killzone shooter franchise. The reason was a report by MP1st.

Journalists, citing their sources, reported that Sony apparently has plans to revive Killzone. A new project is currently in the "earliest" stages of production. However, an announcement is not expected in the near future.

Sources familiar with the situation said that Guerrilla Games is collaborating with an external studio, which is not part of PlayStation, to create a Killzone remaster or remake. At the moment, it is unknown which part they want to update – the journalists themselves believe that the most suitable option is the original Killzone from 2004.

According to sources, the Killzone project should become Guerrilla Games' next priority after the live-service game Horizon Hunter's Gathering. Part of the team involved in its development will return to Killzone after Gathering's development is complete.

Perhaps the external partner studio is People Can Fly. Journalists recalled that last year PlayStation signed an agreement with the studio to develop a game codenamed Project Delta, which will be based on one of PlayStation's existing franchises.

According to MP1st data, the hypothetical Horizon 3 may be released after the Killzone project, but these plans may be revised later.
