19 years later, a little-known part of God of War was released on PlayStation 2 - thanks to enthusiasts
A significant release for fans of the God of War franchise recently took place. After about 19 years, a part of the franchise that many players might not even have heard of has made its way to the PlayStation 2 console.
Enthusiasts PS2GAMESDEV and Eclipsebladestudio released God of War: Betrayal on PlayStation 2 — until recently, this game was only available on mobile devices.
A user under the nickname Own_Bobcat7055 explained:
God of War: Betrayal was made for those old button phones (Java), and it's the only God of War game that never came out on PlayStation consoles, but now you can play it on a PS2 emulator!
Now, thanks to this unofficial port, it can be said: all God of War games are available on Sony consoles.
From the perspective of the franchise's chronology, the events of God of War: Betrayal unfold after the story of God of War: Ghost Of Sparta and before the events shown in God of War II.
The franchise continues to evolve to this day. Currently, Santa Monica Studio is working on God of War Laufey — in the new installment of the franchise, the developers will tell the story of Kratos' wife. The heroine died, but then woke up and learned that the protection she had prepared for Kratos and Atreus is now under threat. Now she must save her loved ones.
