(18+) Nikita Buyanov Explained Why Escape from Tarkov Lacks Detailed Tutorials
The new episode of "DEV STORIES" was recently premiered – a series of videos in which Escape from Tarkov developers talk about working on the game and share their memories. Battlestate Games boss Nikita Buyanov also took part in the filming.
He explained that the team had a "purely innovative approach" and did everything "without knowing how to do it." According to Buyanov, he tried to combine elements of MMORPG, single-player game, shooter, simulator, and "various other themes":
Four leading elements: social element, plus direct shooting and interaction – gunplay, RPG elements, and story. These are the four pillars of any good game. And I tried to stimulate all four so that a person feels themselves in a social environment. This is, for example, all sorts of chats.
Initially, Buyanov thought of creating a general chat for Escape from Tarkov so that people could correspond, share links to guides, etc. However, this "died, didn't survive, they couldn't do it all."
Buyanov noted the importance of social interaction between Escape from Tarkov players online. Players create various guides, and the developers of "Tarkov" deliberately do not reveal details so that gamers feel personal growth as they gradually master the game:
In-game communication, voice commands, well, all of this – social interaction. And a very large part of the game, almost one of the most important parts of the game, is your interaction on the Internet. All these resources, all these videos and guides – it was specifically done so that they would be created. That's why I didn't want to give people a lot of information, so that people would figure it out themselves. So that knowledge in the game would be acquired by them, as in life. And they would feel this tactical advantage. So that they would understand: "Here, I know where the loot is," "And I know how much damage this bullet does."
Nikita Buyanov explained that if you just give people everything, it's "not hardcore ******."
