Graphics barely changed in 11 years? The Witcher 3 compared to The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Witcher 3, released 11 years ago, in many scenes on PC looks no worse than The Blood of Dawnwalker, despite the latter using modern Unreal Engine 5 technology.

Game system requirements are growing faster than graphics quality. This is especially noticeable when comparing the details and physics of The Witcher 3 and the new game from Rebel Wolves.

Over 11 years, hardware requirements have significantly increased, largely due to the widespread use of ray tracing. The Blood of Dawnwalker runs on Unreal Engine 5, where the Lumen lighting system, which uses real-time global illumination technologies, is responsible for lighting.

As a result, The Witcher 3, created on its own REDengine, is not inferior to the new game in many scenes. A similar situation recently arose with Crimson Desert, which, due to problems with ray tracing optimization, also lost to The Witcher 3 in certain visual scenes.

This once again shows how well CD Projekt RED's combat RPG has aged. On September 29, the game will receive a free remaster, after which comparisons with modern AAA projects will become even more interesting.
