World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King launched on PlayStation 4 - modder hacked console and ported game
The modder fixed many technical issues, and now the game should not crash.
The MMORPG World of Warcraft has been available on PC for many years, but an official console release has not yet happened. However, there is still a way to play WoW on consoles.
Recently, a modder known as 01cedric (@Skillsofcape) shared a short gameplay recording of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King on PlayStation 4 on social media.
01cedric announced that he released update 1.61 for the “WoWPS” project, which is dedicated to natively running World of Warcraft on a hacked PlayStation 4 console:
I have put a lot of effort and sleepless nights into this project to bring it to a state where it runs without major crashes and performance issues.
The modder emphasizes that WoWPS is not a streaming client or an emulator of the PC version of the game, but a native client for PlayStation 4: “It is written in C++ and compiled for the console's hardware, using a custom Vulkan 1.0 driver that runs on top of low-level console GNM/VideoOut.”
01cedric published the source code of the “WoWPS” project on GitHub for everyone to replicate the experiment. There's a catch: to avoid infringing on Blizzard Entertainment's copyrights, he did not include game files in the archive – players need to provide a legal copy of the game themselves.

The RTS direction of the franchise is also popular. Recently, a fan-made enhanced mod campaign for Warcraft III about Sylvanas with new story content was released.
