Borderlands 4 is available for free until September 14 on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. On consoles, an active Game Pass or PS Plus subscription of any tier is required to participate.

All progress will be saved after the free period ends if you then purchase the game. Currently, Borderlands 4 is on sale at its lowest price since release, with a 50% discount until September 24.

In 2025, Borderlands 4 gained a reputation as one of the worst optimized AAA games. MxBenchmark testing shows that over a year, in the same location on PC, the frame rate increased from 55 to approximately 67 FPS due to optimization.
