According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Studios plans to make Apocalypse the main antagonist of the next phase of the cinematic universe. The source also compared Marvel Studios' plans with the story development in the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac:
"It's funny how similar Insomniac's and MCU's paths are. In the upcoming Wolverine, Mister Sinister is the villain and works for Apocalypse. The latter only appears as a voice, and then he is introduced as the antagonist of a future X-Men game. In the MCU's X-Men reboot, Mister Sinister also works for Apocalypse. He is reportedly getting a cameo that will set him up as the main villain of the next saga."

Recall that Adam Driver was cast as Nathaniel Essex, also known as Mister Sinister, in the X-Men reboot. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2028.
