The first photos from the filming of the series "People vs. Gorilla Grodd" recently appeared online. At first, users thought that the gorilla captured on set was Grodd himself, but comic book fans noticed its costume. In their opinion, it almost completely replicates the image of King Solomon - another intelligent gorilla from Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse's "Tom Strong" series.
Some fans suggested that King Solomon could become one of the participants in Jimmy Olsen's documentary investigation or appear in reconstructions of events from Grodd's life. The creators of the series have not yet confirmed the character's participation, so the similarity of the costumes may be a simple coincidence.
"People vs. Gorilla Grodd" will be an eight-episode mockumentary comedy. Daily Planet journalist Jimmy Olsen will undertake an investigation to find out if Gorilla Grodd was fairly convicted of murdering his own father.
Skyler Gisondo will return to the role of Olsen, and Jimmy Tatro will play Grodd. Among the Daily Planet staff, Steve Lombard will be played by Beck Bennett, Cat Grant by Mikaela Hoover, and Perry White by Wendell Pierce.
The showrunners are "American Vandal" creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault. The premiere date has not yet been announced.
