Heroes of the Storm to Receive New Content - Playable Xal'atath to Be Added

The developers haven't forgotten about the project and are preparing the next update.

At BlizzCon 2026 in September, the developers confirmed their return to Heroes of the Storm. The Blizzard Entertainment team has prepared a content update for the MOBA game: a new character from the World of Warcraft universe will be added to the game.

A gameplay trailer for Xal'atath was presented. On the promo page, the developers outlined a brief character description:

• An Assassin from whom no one can hide: "Dominate the battlefield with the Dark Heart and restrain opponents with the growing power of the Void."
• Harbinger of the Void: "From Azeroth to the Nexus – Xal'atath has brought ancient schemes and the enslaving power of the Void with her."

 

The descriptions of Xal'atath's abilities were also published:

• Ability – "Void Volley". Auto-attacks accumulate soul substance. When fully charged, you unleash a barrage of Void arrows in the chosen area, continuing to move freely. Linked to the quest "Whispers of the Void": as it is completed, the range and charge speed increase, and attacks gain piercing ability and increased Void damage.
• Q – "Dark Heart Ritual". You summon a Dark Heart talisman that sends pulses of Void energy to nearby enemies, then follows any hero marked with "Mark of Darkness" and explodes.
• W – "Void Step". You leap between three points forming a triangle, and at each stop, the damage of your attacks increases. Can be canceled early to move or escape.
• E – "Mark of Darkness". You launch a large Void sphere that marks heroes hit by its outer edge. The Dark Heart moves to the point of impact and explodes, affecting marked heroes.
• Heroic Ability – "Void Eruption". By sustaining the ability, you create a growing Void sphere and launch it to blind enemies and gain an advantage in combat, then detonate it, affecting a large area. Using the ability on the Dark Heart will instantly trigger an enhanced explosion.
• Heroic Ability – "Void Infusion". You summon a portal from which merciless Void creatures emerge, attacking nearby enemies. New creatures will constantly replace fallen ones until the portal closes or is destroyed.

BlizzCon 2026 attendees will be able to play as the new heroine this weekend, while Heroes of the Storm players will have to wait. The update with the heroine is expected to be released on September 28.
