Square Enix hinted at Drakengard's return - fans await a remake

Drakengard was released in 2003 on PlayStation 2 and became the first installment in the Cavia series. Yoko Taro's game gained notoriety for its dark story, brutal events, and unusual structure with multiple endings, one of which became the basis for the subsequent NieR.

Square Enix recalled the game as part of a special publication for "Square Enix Memorial Day," using an HD-quality image of Caim. Fans immediately began discussing the possible return of the series and asking why the company suddenly showed the character in a new quality.

Yoko Taro also noticed the post, leaving a cryptic comment "a long time ago." There is no other official information about a Drakengard remake or remaster yet.
