After 5 months, Capcom removed Denuvo, but then integrated new protection into the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection
The joy of the players did not last very long.
This year, Capcom released the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection on consoles and PC. At launch, the PC version of the game was protected with Denuvo, which has a bad reputation in the gaming community — it is associated with performance issues in games.
In September 2026, players noticed that Capcom had removed Denuvo, but the games did not remain unprotected. Soon, a notification about custom DRM appeared on the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection page on Steam: the developers are now using The Enigma Protector.
The developers have provided various “personalization options” for the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection — you can use autosave, increase speed, adjust battle frequency, reduce damage, and more:
Year 220X. The world is rapidly developing thanks to Wave technology. Our hero, 11-year-old Geo Stelar, mourns his missing astronaut father. One night, while gazing at the stars in the observatory, Geo unexpectedly received a signal from space through his Transer — and instantly felt a powerful electric shock! Waking up, he saw an alien named Omega-Xis above him, entirely composed of electromagnetic waves...
Capcom continues to protect its new projects with Denuvo. For example, DRM is present in the PC versions of Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
