Filming for the first season of the live-action series "Scooby-Doo: The Beginning" has officially concluded. The project is described as a modern reimagining of the franchise created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969.
According to the official synopsis, the events will unfold during the characters' last summer camp vacation. Shaggy and Daphne find themselves drawn into a mystical investigation involving a lost German Shepherd puppy, who may have been the sole witness to a paranormal murder.
The main roles were played by Mckenna Grace, Tanner Buchanan, Abby Ryder Fortson, and Maxwell Jenkins. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, André Benjamin, Bruce McGill, Sara Gilbert, and Cathy Moriarty.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg served as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. The first episode was directed by "Andor" director Toby Haynes. The first season will consist of eight episodes in total.
"Scooby-Doo: The Beginning" will premiere on Netflix in 2027. The exact date has not yet been announced by the service.
