Retroid, which last week opened pre-orders for the dual-screen handheld consoles Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite, has announced price reductions for its older devices.
The price reductions were accompanied by the statement "get them now before they're gone forever," indicating the final discontinuation of these models. Retroid wants to transition gamers to its newer handhelds, and this likely means the company is working on new devices to make the discontinuation of older ones make sense.
The Retroid Pocket Classic now costs $99 instead of $149 (8422 rubles instead of 12,676 rubles). The Retroid Pocket 5 with 12 GB RAM and a 16:9 screen is now priced at $179 instead of $209 (15,228 rubles instead of 17,780 rubles). The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 received discounts on two modifications.
The first — the D1100 version with 8 GB RAM — now costs $149 instead of $179 (12,676 rubles instead of 15,228 rubles). This is a clamshell console with a single screen, capable of emulating games up to GameCube. The second — a slightly more powerful version based on SD865 with 12 GB RAM — now costs $189 instead of $219 (16,079 rubles instead of 18,631 rubles).
It is capable of emulating most PlayStation 2 games at native resolution. According to Retroid, these devices will be discontinued once existing stock is sold out.
