Valve has released a major update for Half-Life: Alyx with optimization, ARM64/AArch64 support, and foveated rendering, preparing the game for native launch on the Steam Frame VR headset.

Valve did not add new content, focusing on performance and image quality. One of the main innovations was a technology that allows directing most of the computing power to the area where the player is looking.

The game also added depth-aware reprojection, which helps maintain smooth visuals when the frame rate drops. The update also improves performance on regular PCs and fixes latency related to the player's hands and other simulated objects.

Valve also fixed a number of bugs, including a false out-of-memory message, issues with cloud saves on Linux, incorrect subtitles, main menu flickering, and a bug that sometimes made it impossible to interact with items after starting a new game.

Earlier, Valve stated that Half-Life: Alyx should work well on Steam Frame in native mode. The new update shows that the company is indeed preparing the game for the new device.
