After the world premiere of Zach Cregger's new "Resident Evil," the first reviews appeared on social media. Journalists and viewers mostly reacted enthusiastically to the film: some are already calling it one of the best video game adaptations and horror films in recent memory.
"Zach Cregger is a damn genius, and Resident Evil is one of the best video game adaptations and one of the best horror films in recent memory. Amazing title reveal, and watching Austin Abrams flail and kill zombies is incredibly funny. 10 out of 10."
"Flawless visuals, heart-pounding music, and a sea of blood. As a big fan of the games, I'm not disappointed. Austin Abrams is hilarious here. I loved watching him go through the worst day of his life."
"This is a crazy ride that doesn't slow down for a second. Zach Cregger has created a delightfully insane feast of creepy creatures, relentless tension, and bloody action scenes that make your heart pound."
Among other merits, viewers note the monster design, black humor, and the film's rhythm, reminiscent of playing a game. The few complaints mainly concern the final part: some believe it is inferior to the preceding events, and Awards Radar editor Joey Magidson directly stated that he did not like the ending.
For now, these are just the first impressions after the premiere. Full reviews will appear after the embargo is lifted on September 16 at 7:00 PM Moscow time.
The international premiere of the new "Resident Evil" will take place on September 18. Nothing is yet known about its release in Russia.
