Denuvo is tired of hacker voices38 constantly cracking its games and has sued him
Valve, Reddit, and Discord will receive requests to disclose users' personal data to identify the hacker.
Denuvo GmbH has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against a hacker known online by the pseudonym voices38.
Denuvo accuses voices38 of violating provisions of U.S. copyright law prohibiting the circumvention of technological protection measures. The company demands monetary compensation and a court injunction against the hacker's activities.
In court documents, voices38 is identified as an unknown individual or entity. Denuvo intends to reach out to Valve, Reddit, and Discord through the court to obtain payment and network data that may help identify the defendant.
The lawsuit alleges that voices38 used a method of directly modifying internal DRM checks. This approach allowed circumvention of protection without disabling Windows virtualization system functions. Affected projects include FIFA 20, PES 2020, Hogwarts Legacy, Black Myth: Wukong, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil Requiem, and DOOM: The Dark Ages.
