HBO head Casey Bloys confirmed in an interview with Deadline that the company currently has no other DC comic book series in active development, apart from the "Superman" spin-off — "People vs. Gorilla Grodd":
"No, there's nothing right now. Of course, we have 'Gorilla Grodd,' which I'm very happy with. We're doing something unusual, and I think it's a very fun idea. Filming has just begun."
Bloys also explained that audiences often perceive reports of new projects in development as confirmation of their full production. However, according to him, at this stage, HBO considers various ideas, many of which ultimately do not get the green light:
"You know what I would say to that? It was the same with 'Game of Thrones.' People read about projects in development and assume they are already approved series for production. But these are just projects in development. And everyone knows that development is precisely about searching: you try different options, you take big risks, and not everything ultimately materializes. I would say that our track record at DC — from 'Watchmen' and 'Peacemaker' to 'The Penguin,' and now 'Lanterns' — is pretty good. We are very selective and careful about what we do. Nothing has changed. You can read about projects in development, but pay attention to what gets the green light."
Bloys' words clarify the status of several previously announced projects, reports of whose freezing or cancellation appeared in Hollywood media in August 2026. It was then revealed that "Waller" and "Lost Paradise" were pushed to the background, "Booster Gold" is undergoing a creative team change, and solo series about Poison Ivy and Catwoman did not pass the pitching stage.
