
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" Becomes Highest-Grossing Film in North American History
The film starring Tom Holland took the record from the seventh episode of "Star Wars," which had held the top spot since 2015.
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" has topped the list of the highest-grossing films in North American box office history. In 47 days, the superhero film grossed $936.773 million, surpassing "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which earned $936.6 million.
Previously, "No Way Home" was the fastest film to cross major box office milestones from $400 million to $900 million in North America. The film also set a record for its opening weekend, grossing $360 million, and held the number one spot in the charts for six weeks.
The worldwide gross for "No Way Home" reached approximately $2.4 billion. The film ranks third in history, trailing "Avengers: Endgame" with $2.7 billion and "Avatar," which grossed about $2.9 billion.
