Activision unveiled a new trailer for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 story campaign, shown during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast. In the video, the developers revealed one of the main details of the story – the role of Mads Mikkelsen, known for the films "Casino Royale" and "Hannibal," as well as the game Death Stranding. The actor will play a major antagonist nicknamed The Archer.
The events of Modern Warfare 4 unfold after the assassination of General Shepherd in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Task Force 141 is disbanded, and Captain John Price is in hiding. Meanwhile, a new conflict erupts on the Korean Peninsula, and a dangerous weapon capable of changing the world order is on its way to an unknown enemy.
His former comrades, Ghost and Gaz, are sent to capture or eliminate Price. Ghost begins to doubt the former captain's methods and wonders whether Price had the right to administer justice himself or if he ultimately betrayed the principles he once followed.
Against the backdrop of the Korean conflict and the hunt for Price, an even more serious threat develops. An unknown weapon is being delivered to a mysterious enemy known only as The Archer. Activision has not yet revealed what this weapon is capable of or why Mikkelsen needed to acquire it.
