"Wildwood" Awaits: Final Trailer Released for LAIKA's Most Ambitious Animated Film

The creators of "Coraline" have made the longest stop-motion animated film in history.

LAIKA studio has unveiled the final trailer for "Wildwood" – its sixth feature-length animated film, following "Coraline", "ParaNorman", "The Boxtrolls", "Kubo and the Two Strings", and "Missing Link".

The plot of "Wildwood" unfolds near Portland. Prue McKeel, along with her classmate Curtis, ventures into a hidden enchanted forest known as the Impassable Wilderness to find the girl's younger brother, who has been abducted by a flock of crows. Their search will draw the heroes into a confrontation for the future of a world inhabited by talking animals, bandits, and mystical creatures.

"Wildwood" has already set several records for the studio. It is LAIKA's first animated film with an American PG-13 rating; all previous works received a milder PG. Furthermore, with a stated runtime of over 132 minutes, the film will become the longest feature-length animated film made using stop-motion technique – for its production, the team built 136 sets and created 231 physical puppets.

The director is LAIKA head Travis Knight, who previously directed "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Bumblebee". The screenplay, based on Colin Meloy's books, was written by Chris Butler, who worked on "ParaNorman".

The main characters are voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee and Jacob Tremblay. The cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.

The world premiere of "Wildwood" will take place on October 23, 2026, and the film will be released in Russian cinemas on December 3.
