Sony has released system update 26.06-14.00.00 for PlayStation 5. The update underwent beta testing for about a month, but the final version included one notable change compared to the test build.
The main new feature was the ability to add the Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub, which is now available to all PS5 owners. It is important to note that the widget was not part of the beta test, but Sony itself had been working on it since May.
Community Activity offers two sections — Trending Now and Top 10. The first displays 10 multiplayer games or individual multiplayer modes whose popularity is currently growing on PlayStation Network. The list may include recently updated projects, new releases, or games that have seen a surge in interest due to a sale. For each game, the reason for its inclusion in the selection is also indicated — for example, a significant increase in the number of matches or hours played by players.
The Top 10 section shows the ten most popular games over the past week. The list is formed taking into account the user's country or region, so the set of projects may differ in different parts of the world.
Notably, in the beta version, the Top 10 section showed the number of players for each game, but in the public release, this data is no longer available. Many players were waiting for this feature, hoping to get their SteamDB equivalent, but Sony had other plans.
