Netflix has released the second season of the animated series "Stranger Things: Tales from '85". All eight episodes of the continuation are now available for viewing.
The first season began in January 1985, several weeks after the events of the second season, and the new episodes transport the characters to the eve of Valentine's Day. Hawkins faces ghostly phenomena and a swarm of mysterious creatures, the origin of which the heroes must uncover. Even Eleven's abilities may not be enough to prevent new gates to the Upside Down from opening.
Critics received the second season more coolly than the first. At the time of writing, its rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 50% based on six reviews. For comparison, the first season received 61% positive reviews after 36 reviews. Greer Riddell from Collider, who gave the sequel 5 out of 10, suggested that after the April debut, interest in the spin-off waned, making its flaws harder to ignore. The decline in interest may also explain the small number of reviews.
Whether the project will get a third season is still unknown. Netflix announced the second season on April 28 – just five days after the premiere of the first. At the same time, there is still room for the story to continue in the chronology of the universe: from Valentine's Day to the events of the third season of the original "Stranger Things", which begins on June 28, 1985, there are just over four months left.
