The new Resident Evil adaptation has already received a 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to Deadline's forecast, Zach Cregger's new "Resident Evil" could earn more than $80 million worldwide in its opening weekend. In the US and Canada, the horror film is projected to take in $40 million to $50 million in its first weekend, with another $31 million expected from other markets. If the North American forecast reaches its upper limit, the film's global box office will exceed $80 million.

Analysts' estimates, however, vary. Earlier, Box Office Theory allowed for a North American opening of up to $60 million, while Deadline traditionally provides more conservative forecasts. The film, meanwhile, has received excellent critical reception: after 91 reviews, its rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 97%.

According to Variety, the production budget for the new "Resident Evil" was $75 million, excluding marketing costs. Therefore, with a successful start, the film will be able to cover its production costs quite quickly.

"Resident Evil" will be released nationwide on September 18, 2026.
