FunnyPlaying shared new details about the FPGB Mini portable console (also known as Retro Pixel MiniGB) with the Retro Dodo portal. This is a retro device, made in the form of a reduced copy of the original Game Boy, which can play GB and GBC cartridges, as well as run ROM files.
This novelty is equipped with a 2.98-inch IPS display with a fairly high resolution, which allows for 4x upscaling of GBC games (IPS TFT, 800 × 720, RGB565, 16.7 million colors).
The console also received a removable 1800 mAh lithium-polymer battery (operating time — approximately 4–6 hours, full charging time — about 2–3 hours). The FPGB Mini supports a link cable. However, this must be its own proprietary USB-C cable, which can be purchased separately after sales start (date is still unknown).
In addition, the device may not work with flash cartridges or their clones. Some, of course, may launch, but the operation of all is not guaranteed. Games on physical cartridges will be saved as usual, while saves for ROM files will be written to the SD memory card.
FPGB Mini dimensions: 113 × 64 × 22 mm. Weight with battery: 135 grams. There is an original 32-pin GB/GBC slot, a 0.5W speaker, support for MicroSD cards up to 32 GB (FAT32), PD, and other protocols.
FunnyPlaying is not yet ready to announce how much the FPGB Mini will cost and when pre-orders will open.
