This is what happens when a successful Japanese company moves to California: PlayStation made a fool of itself

The reason was a new gameplay trailer for the Final Fantasy VII remake.

PlayStation decided to share new footage of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth remake from Tokyo Game Show, captioning the short video: "Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind show off their combat abilities from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth". Everything would be fine, except that the footage showed Cloud, not Vincent.

X users quickly noticed this, adding a short community note: "This is Cloud".

Some commentators note that even if Sony doesn't know the names of the characters in the game it's promoting, the person responsible for publishing the video could at least have read what was written in the corner of the screen.
