Empire magazine has published the first image of Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew from the film "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew". Greta Gerwig called the character "the stupidest magician in the world who actually managed to create magic".
Digory's uncle has spent years studying magical artifacts and creating rings for traveling between worlds. These rings will send Digory and Polly to the Wood Between the Worlds and set in motion a chain of events that will lead to the awakening of Jadis and the creation of Narnia.
Craig commented on his character as follows:
"I'd like to say his intentions are good, but I'm not sure they are. That doesn't mean he's cruel, mean, or terrible. He just gets too caught up in what might happen, and so he stops noticing the people around him and the consequences of his actions."
As a child, the actor read "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" in one night. According to Craig, it was the first book he read from beginning to end on his own.
"Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" will be released internationally on February 12, 2027, and will appear on Netflix on April 2.
