Anime based on JRPG Suikoden II gets new trailer and premiere date

Production is handled by Konami's newly opened internal studio.

Konami has unveiled the third trailer for Suikoden: The Anime and revealed its premiere date. The adaptation of the cult JRPG Suikoden II will begin airing on October 3, with the first episode having an extended runtime of one hour.

Both musical themes of the series were featured in the video. The opening was performed by the band amazarashi, while the ending was the song "closed eye sun" by Koji Nakamura, recorded with the participation of Honoka Takahashi.

The events unfold against the backdrop of a conflict between the Highland Kingdom and the Jowston City-States. The main characters, Riou and Jowy, serve in the "Unicorn" unit – a division of young Highland soldiers. After a truce is signed, it seems that years of enmity are in the past, but soon the heroes find themselves drawn into a new war that will change the fate of the two states.

Production is handled by the newly established internal studio KONAMI animation, with Yuzo Sato serving as director. The original Suikoden II was released in 1998 on PlayStation and is considered one of the most famous JRPGs of its generation due to its political plot, large-scale conflict between states, tactical battles, and a large pool of 108 playable characters.
