Denuvo was recently cracked in Assassin's Creed Mirage. The protection in the PC version of this installment of the franchise was already broken in early 2026 — at that time, the well-known hacker under the nickname voices38 dealt with the DRM.
Now, the hacker group RUNE has dealt with the DRM in Assassin's Creed Mirage, using a different approach. voices38's method involves tricking Denuvo into mistakenly believing that the player has a license for the cracked game, while RUNE completely removed the DRM from the game.
RUNE explained that this crack of Assassin's Creed Mirage is a "proof of concept." The hackers also noted that VMProtect (virtual machine) was completely removed from the game. They had to cut out and restore thousands of functions. They did not specify how long the entire process took.
Currently, Denuvo's lawyers are trying to deal with voices38. Hackers are trying to find the person (or group) behind the cracks of the protection system in various PC video games. Nevertheless, voices38 made it clear that he does not plan to stop his activities yet — he intends to continue cracking Denuvo.
