Terry Matalas, creator of the Marvel series "Vision Quest," stated that generative artificial intelligence was not used in the production of the project. Although the plot focuses on sentient AIs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the visual style of the series was entirely created by artists. According to Matalas, the team was inspired by the visual characteristics of modern neural networks and manually reproduced the typical errors and distortions of generative models:
"No, not at all. There was simply no need. The visual design refers to how modern artificial intelligence models process information. We thought it would be fun to comment on the technology in this way."
The events of the series will unfold approximately one year after the finale of "WandaVision." White Vision has received the memories of his previous version, but for now, he perceives them only as a set of data and cannot establish an emotional connection with them. The hero will embark on a quest for his own identity, while simultaneously hiding from those who wish to destroy him.
A significant part of the story will take place within Vision's consciousness, which will take the form of a mansion. Its inhabitants will be the embodiments of artificial intelligences from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to Paul Bettany as Vision, the series will feature James Spader as Ultron, James D'Arcy as JARVIS, Orla Brady as FRIDAY, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and T'Nia Miller as Jocasta.
"Vision Quest" is set to premiere on October 14 on Disney+.
