An improved fan-made PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with mod support has been released
Modders have implemented performance improvements and more.
In September, the TwilitRealm modding team announced the release of a major 2.0 update for the fan-made PC port of the cult game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This project is called "dusklight" and is technically the result of reverse engineering.
The goal of the "dusklight" project, modders explain, is to "reproduce the original as accurately as possible" while offering new features, improvements, and customizations. The project runs on the Aurora engine.
With the release of update 2.0, the PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess received full support for custom modifications. Enthusiasts will be able to replace game assets/textures, as well as create mods that affect gameplay.
Players will have access to a "mod browser" as well as a "randomizer" - a built-in random playthrough generator. This feature shuffles item locations and can affect other game parameters, such as starting equipment, boss rooms, and shop items.
The source code for the "dusklight" project is publicly available on GitHub in the TwilitRealm repository. Modders have not included copyrighted content in the archive - players must provide their own copy of the original The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
