Publisher Critical Leap has released the detective adventure The Posthumous Investigation from Brazilian studio Mother Gaia Studio on Android and Nintendo Switch.
The project is inspired by the works of Brazilian writer Machado de Assis and classic point-and-click quests. The events unfold in Rio de Janeiro in 1937. The main character is a private detective hired by an already deceased entrepreneur. In one day, he must solve the murder, after which time returns to the beginning of the cycle. In new attempts, the detective uses the knowledge gained, checks different versions, follows suspects, searches for clues, and finds contradictions in their testimonies.
The mobile version is distributed under a "try before you buy" model: the game can be downloaded for free to play the prologue, and then the full version can be unlocked with a single purchase costing 419 rubles.
The Posthumous Investigation was released on Steam on March 31, 2026, and received 94% positive reviews based on 554 reviews. The iOS version has not yet been announced.
