Marvel's Wolverine Developers Deny AI Use, Tone Down "Scent Trail," and Consider Making It Optional

The new version of the prompts is less bright and is already more appealing to players.

After the release of gameplay footage, many players had questions for the creators of Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac Games decided to visualize Wolverine's keen sense of smell by adding a bright "scent trail" to the game, which guides the way.

By release, the situation hadn't improved. Players saw this visual cue in all its glory, and many disliked it. The developers paid attention to the feedback – an update was soon released that fixed some bugs causing crashes.

They also toned down the "trail": "In this hotfix, we adjusted the display of the 'scent trail' and 'sound perception' indicators"; the effects of the indicators were made less bright.

The developers of Marvel's Wolverine stated that they are "exploring further ways to improve" these Wolverine abilities, including considering adding an option to enable/disable them.

Part of the criticism directed at the creators of Marvel's Wolverine is also related to "neural sloppiness." According to some players, artificial intelligence was used in the development. A screenshot of a toilet sign, where one person was "split in two," went viral online.

A representative from Insomniac Games issued a denial:

No. This is a UV map bug, and we are preparing a fix. There are no AI-generated assets in Marvel's Wolverine.
