The creators of the full-length anime "Made in Abyss: The Secret of the Awakening" have shared a new selection of stills from the upcoming film. One of them officially shows Nishagora for the first time – a new character the heroes will encounter while exploring the seventh layer.
The film will continue the events of the second season, "The Sun Blazes Upon the Golden City." Riko, Reg, Nanachi, and Faputa will venture into the dangerous and practically unexplored depths of the Abyss.
Kinema Citrus studio is responsible for the production, with Masayuki Kojima returning as director. Hideyuki Kurata wrote the screenplay, and Yuka Kuroda and Kazuchika Kise from Production I.G. are in charge of character design. The main theme song "Chain of the Abyss" was composed by Kevin Penkin in collaboration with VTuber Mori Calliope.
The film's premiere in Japanese cinemas is scheduled for October 23, 2026; international release dates have not yet been announced.
