Ninjala 2 will be a completely different game - developers abandoned PvP, gacha, and made an open world
Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet for Nintendo Switch 2 will abandon PvP in favor of an open world, PvE co-op, and a traditional sales model.
The sequel to Ninjala will change significantly compared to the original. GungHo Online Entertainment decided to abandon online PvP and create a cooperative PvE game with an open world, listening to community feedback. The first Ninjala was released in 2020 and gradually expanded with new modes, team play, soccer, lobbies, and fishing. In parallel, the game's universe developed, partly thanks to an anime series.
According to producer Motoki Kaneda, player surveys showed that some of the audience wanted to explore the world more calmly, play alone or with friends. This prompted the developers to focus on PvE.
At the same time, ninjas, Ninja-Gum, and dynamic movement will remain. The open world will allow wall-running and free movement. Ninjala 2 will not be free-to-play and will not feature gacha mechanics – one purchase will be enough to access all content.
The release is scheduled for spring 2027, and co-op is designed for four players.
