The platformer Jak & Daxter from Naughty Dog studio may still get a film adaptation. According to well-known insider Daniel Richtman, the movie is still in development. Details about the crew, cast, and release date have not been disclosed, and Sony itself has not yet announced the project — despite talks about it circulating for several years.
The first information about the adaptation appeared in February 2022. At that time, Ruben Fleischer, director of "Venom" and "Uncharted: Among Thieves," said that he was working with PlayStation Productions to bring Jak & Daxter to the screen. In 2023, insider MyTimeToShineHello claimed that Tom Holland might play Jak, and Chris Pratt would voice Daxter, but since then, no official information has emerged.
The Jak & Daxter series debuted in 2001 on PlayStation 2, and the last game in the series — Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier — was released in 2009. Since then, the franchise has not received new projects, excluding compilations and remasters. However, the emergence of new rumors from reliable insiders indicates that Sony may see potential in developing the series beyond games and could potentially revive the franchise in the future.
