Destiny 2 to Bring Back Deleted Content - Bungie Admits Mistake and Confirms They Haven't Finished Working on the Franchise

News

The developers have learned a lot and now want to regain players' trust.

This year, what seemed like the final update for the looter-shooter Destiny 2 was released. This decision was not well-received by many fans, who actively urged the developers to return to the project.

Recently, studio head Poria Torkhan and Marathon director Josh Dean addressed fans and shared their future plans.

Poria admitted that in recent years, Bungie studio had lost its way. The developers want to regain players' trust:

For over 30 years, Bungie has been creating amazing worlds around which communities form. But in recent years, we have lost our way. The consequences have been very serious: we have lost trust, lost wonderful colleagues, and our ambitions as a studio have stalled. We pursued our concept without paying due attention to what players liked — and we are to blame for this. We take full responsibility.

The Next Chapter for Bungie

Josh Dean said that Bungie plans to return to the roots of Destiny, when attention was paid to the mysterious atmosphere and the feeling of meaningful discoveries. The franchise will not be abandoned: the authors still have many stories to tell, but it will take time.

The first step towards correction should be the restoration of deleted content in Destiny 2 — old campaigns, locations, and raids will return. The authors admitted that they “should not have been removed in the first place.”

Managers understand that regaining players' trust with words alone will not work, but fulfilling Bungie's plans will take a lot of time.
