Sean McLoughlin, producer of the Bloodborne animated film, known by his pseudonym Jacksepticeye, spoke about fans' reactions to his involvement in the adaptation. According to the YouTuber, about 80% of the responses contained criticism:
“I would say 80% of the responses were critical. I don't want to call them negative, because many simply… I would have reacted the same way: if some YouTuber joined the adaptation of my favorite universe, it would at least raise questions.”
McLoughlin admitted that he understands such skepticism. He calls Bloodborne his favorite game and feels responsible to fans of the FromSoftware universe:
“I'm not trying to recreate the game, surpass it, or tell the same story. I want to do justice to this universe and create the best story I can within its framework.”
McLoughlin also said that he had significant influence on the production. In particular, he participates in creative decision-making and team selection:
“I'm the one who says, 'That's a good idea. That's a bad idea. Don't do that.' Also, I approve who we hire and who we collaborate with, so that the team is carefully selected. You shouldn't bring in someone who has no idea what Bloodborne is. Simply put, I'm kind of the chief of atmosphere here.”
Sony announced a full-length animated film based on Bloodborne at CinemaCon 2026. The film will receive an R rating, and the production is handled by PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation. The premiere date, cast, and plot details have not yet been revealed.
