The Witcher 3 screenwriter revealed the secret of the perfect quest - the player must put down the gamepad

The perfect quest in The Witcher 3 should emotionally impact the player so strongly that they put down the gamepad, stand up, and walk around the room, contemplating the consequences of their choice.

Narrative director Marcin Blacha spoke about creating the game's most memorable stories. According to him, the basis of a good quest should be a dilemma that does not fit into a simple division into good and evil.

The script should not offer an obvious solution that can be completed by constantly pressing one button. An important choice should have its own weight to make one think about human nature, the surrounding world, or the personal tragedy of the characters.

Blacha described the reaction to the perfect climax: the player puts down the controller, gets up from the chair, and starts walking around the room, weighing all the pros and cons. After that, they return to the screen and choose one of the options, already aware of the consequences.

The team adheres to the same philosophy when creating the third story expansion, Songs of the Past, which will not shy away from difficult topics and emotional discomfort.
