Game designer, producer, and screenwriter David Jaffe, creator of the God of War and Twisted Metal series, decided once again to share his opinion on various events in the gaming industry.
This time, Jaffe commented on the potential closure of Ninja Theory studio, for which Microsoft was unable to find a buyer.
In my opinion, the tragedy of Ninja Theory is that they believed in their own illusions: they stopped being just creators of entertainment and imagined themselves as 'artists who have something to say to the world'... and the market reacted to this in a corresponding and quite predictable way.
Ninja Theory's latest games were the failed Bleeding Edge, released in 2020, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, which many called a beautiful Unreal Engine 5 tech demo. The studio also worked on Project: Mara, but the project was canceled in June of this year.
