PlayStation 6 will be twice as powerful as PlayStation 5, but significantly weaker than Project Helix - rumor

News 1

According to new information from the well-known insider KeplerL2, Sony's next console — PlayStation 6 — may have approximately twice the 'raw' performance compared to the PS5. At the same time, comparing the capabilities of two generations solely by the number of teraflops, according to the insider, is incorrect: in real-world tasks, the difference between the systems may turn out to be significantly more noticeable.

In particular, the PS6 will allegedly provide approximately a 12-fold increase in ray tracing performance, and AI-related computing capabilities may be 50–70 times higher than those of the PS5. It is these indicators, and not just the number of floating-point operations, that should better reflect the potential increase in capabilities of the new console.

In another message, KeplerL2 claims that the chip intended for the PS6 is capable of delivering about 40 teraflops, while the processor for the next generation Xbox, known by the codename Project Helix, will allegedly reach 56 teraflops.
