After 30 years, Namco's Xevious 3D/G Returns - Original Arcade Game to be Released on PS5 and Xbox

Xevious 3D/G, the eighth installment in Namco's shooter series, will receive its first re-release of the original arcade version on modern consoles, 30 years after its initial release.

The game was released in arcades in 1996 and became the first installment in the series to feature 3D polygonal graphics instead of classic sprites. The player controls a spaceship and fends off waves of enemies.

In 1997, Xevious 3D/G received a PS1 version due to the similarity of the System 11 arcade machine's hardware and the first PlayStation. Now, Arcade Archives 2 will offer the original arcade version for the first time.

The re-release will feature Original, High Score, Caravan, and Time Attack modes, as well as VRR support for more accurate reproduction of the arcade machine's operation.

The release will take place on September 24, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. There will be no versions for Switch and PS4.
