Is Xbox Ready to Spend $400 Million on Hideo Kojima's Game? New Details on Physint Emerge - Media
Xbox is reportedly ready to allocate around $400 million for Hideo Kojima's new spy game, Physint. Jason Schreier claims that the final deal amount is significantly lower.
The Game Business reports that Microsoft intends to invest in games with high commercial potential in the coming years. According to the publication, Xbox is ready to spend almost $400 million on Kojima's new spy project.
The new strategy requires investing in certain areas, and it is indeed doing so. For example, it just signed a contract for a big game with Hideo Kojima, with a reported budget of around $400 million, and is now also investing in a new Halo team.
Journalist Jason Schreier urged caution regarding the figure. According to him, there are several different amounts: the initial budget of the deal with PlayStation, negotiation sums, the cost of the project with specific actors, Xbox's offer, and the final expenses before release.
Someone from Xbox with direct knowledge of this deal told me that they signed Physint for significantly less money.
At the same time, Kojima Productions previously cast doubt on reports of the project moving to Xbox.
