The Japanese PC gaming market more than doubled in four years — from 132.1 to over 300 billion yen, and the share of computers in the country's total gaming revenue increased from 6% to 12%.
For decades, Japan was primarily associated with Nintendo, PlayStation, and arcade machines, while PCs remained a niche platform. Now, the situation is gradually changing: more and more Japanese players are choosing computers.
Growth is not only driven by local games. Among the most popular PC projects in Japan are Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, ARC Raiders, and Call of Duty. The popularity of online shooters shows the growing interest of the local audience in Western brands and global gaming trends.

If this dynamic continues, it will become increasingly difficult for publishers to consider Japanese PC users a small audience.
