Elden Ring publisher closes servers of one of the worst extraction shooters in Steam history - it will be remade into an offline game
Many players know Bandai Namco Entertainment as the publisher of Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and numerous projects based on various anime franchises. However, last year they also released Synduality Echo of Ada — a game that received many negative reviews on Steam.
Players gave it so many "thumbs down" that Synduality Echo of Ada entered the "top 100 worst" by user rating — landing in fiftieth place between the American football simulator EA SPORTS College Football 27 and a cultivation role-playing game called "江湖十一" (no localization available).
In September 2026, the developers announced that they plan to shut down online services in May 2027. However, Synduality Echo of Ada itself will continue to exist — the game will be reformatted into an offline project:
Updates and events within the current online service will only be provided until the end of October 2026; after that, their release will cease. Due to the closure of the online service, a decision has been made to create an offline version. Players who already own the current version of the game will be able to continue playing in standalone mode after the online service ceases operation, but will not be able to access certain features that require an online connection.
Synduality Echo of Ada is currently a PvPvE extraction shooter, and after the servers close, it will simply be "PvE-extraction". According to the story, events unfold in 2222, many years after a mysterious poisonous rain called "Tears of the New Moon" poured onto the planet. It destroyed most of humanity and caused the emergence of monsters that hunt the survivors. To survive, the remnants of humanity build an underground shelter and use the "Sarcophagus" combat vehicle to explore the surface and extract resources.
