Santa Monica showed a combat bow and a gelatinous cube in new God of War Laufey gameplay footage
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio announced that physical and digital pre-orders for God of War Laufey will begin on September 29.
By pre-ordering before release, players will receive the Last Wish armor set, the Phranque Golden Leaves cosmetic appearance, and a set of in-game resources.
The developers also presented the contents of the Digital Deluxe Edition. It will include the Dark Alchemy armor set, the Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, the Dark Alchemy Catalyst, a set of in-game resources, a digital mini artbook, and the official digital soundtrack of the game.
Santa Monica Studio paid special attention to Faye's new weapon – the Serpent Bow. This is an enchanted bow, shaped like a snake, which allows the heroine to transition almost instantly from a calm state to shooting. The weapon is designed for both long-range and close-quarters combat.
When the aiming button is fully pressed, Faye enters a precise shooting mode with increased range. Hitting specific body parts of enemies can limit their movement or ability to attack, creating an opportunity for a subsequent melee attack. In this mode, the bow can be charged, and up to five arrows can be prepared for a powerful volley. This attack is especially effective against enemies that Frank's ability throws into the air.
Partially pressing the aiming button activates a more mobile hip-fire mode. In this mode, Faye can unleash several arrows at close range, dealing significant damage to enemies. Rapid firing allows her to keep enemies airborne and extend combos, seamlessly switching between weapons and various abilities.
The Serpent Bow also supports several arrow types. These include options for rapid fire, explosive attacks, and hitting multiple targets simultaneously. Additionally, the bow can be modified with special scales that change its appearance and add a unique perk that defines gameplay characteristics. One such option will be the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales from the Digital Deluxe Edition. New skills for the bow can also be unlocked as you progress through the game.
The developers also discussed Faye's equipment system. Her armor will affect the heroine's stats, in-game bonuses, and appearance, while other gear elements will allow for further adaptation of the playstyle.
