Following the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, Cold Iron Studios began layoffs. The decision was announced by the parent company Enad Global 7 (EG7).
It is reported that at least 19 employees were laid off. Before the layoffs, Cold Iron Studios, according to open data, employed approximately 50–70 people, meaning a significant portion of the team was affected. The layoffs occurred just over a month after the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 – the game was released on August 25.
EG7 emphasized that the layoffs are in line with the initial plan for the studio's restructuring. According to the company, the goal is to reduce Cold Iron Studios' operating costs and ensure the team's sustainable operation going forward.
However, the studio is not ceasing work on Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. EG7 stated that Cold Iron will continue to develop and support the game, including preparing a version for Nintendo Switch 2, which is now scheduled for early 2027. The studio will also continue to operate as part of Daybreak Game Company.
