In September, Denuvo lawyers sued the well-known hacker (or group) voices38. Over the past months, this hacker has broken the protection in many games. His track record includes both modern projects and those released more than 10 years ago.
voices38 himself reacted to the lawsuit quite calmly:
Everything is fine. Everything will continue as before.
Nevertheless, this Denuvo lawsuit has another consequence — information has emerged that the DenuvOwo group has disbanded. It also engaged in hacking games with the Denuvo protection system, but used a hypervisor method for this — i.e., Denuvo was bypassed, so for such “cracks” to work, players need to disable PC security systems.
DenuvOwo representatives did not disclose the reason for their decision. But players have a theory: the hackers communicated via Discord* — it is through this service that Denuvo lawyers intend to try to identify voices38.
The method of “hacking” Denuvo using a hypervisor is not an exclusive technology of the DenuvOwo group, i.e., their work can be continued by other tech enthusiasts.
